What income puts you in the top 1%?
Find the p99 threshold and understand why top-one-percent figures differ between sources.

Start with a definition
There is no single cash amount that applies to every country and income concept. A source may rank adults, tax filers, employees or households. It may count wages, taxable income or broader national income. Different top-1% figures are not automatically arithmetic errors; first establish whether they answer the same question.
Published thresholds on this site
The imported US p99 threshold is USD 583,732 in 2024; the UK threshold is GBP 238,788 in 2024. Each keeps its local currency. Comparing raw numbers would mix currency units. The top-1% ranking instead provides a common USD PPP column alongside local values and source years.
Income is not wealth
Income is a flow over a period. Wealth is a stock of assets minus liabilities at a point in time. A high annual income does not specify accumulated wealth, debt, housing costs or financial security. These tools do not estimate wealth rank or the lifestyle a person can afford.
Going further into the tail
Top 0.1% corresponds to p99.9 where that point exists. The tool labels published, interpolated and extrapolated amounts separately. An extremely high input may exceed the final published point; detailed output does not make the extrapolation equally certain. Choose a country and top percentage, then inspect the country table to see the threshold in context.
